Flag display brings questions of war and peace to Greenwich

The 6,801 American flags on display outside the Second Congregational Church are more than a salute to the country. Each flag represents a life.
Each of the flags is supposed to mark an American soldier killed in service in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Greenwich should come see church’s Field of Flags

On Sunday, Second Congregational Church of Greenwich dedicated Field of Flags on our front lawn, a temporary installation of almost 7,000 American flags, each representing an American soldier killed in Afghanistan or Iraq.

The price of war

Greenwich has never been a community that’s shy about its patriotism. Displays of the American flag are both common and welcome in town. For the next few weeks, though, there’s one that’s a little bit different that needs to be sought out.

No more sanctions

When U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy appeared at Greenwich Library last week to discuss the country’s current policy toward Iran, he made a lot of sense.
