Barcelona – Welcoming fresh faces

WineBarcelona Wine Bar & Restaurant has gotten a makeover by welcoming two new additions to the staff at its Greenwich location. Michael Lucente has taken over as executive chef and Ian Senecal has joined as the general manager. Mr. Lucente, a graduate from the Culinary Institute of America, joins the team with more than 10 years of culinary experience including work at BLT Steak at the Ritz Carlton in Westchester, N.Y. and La Promenade des Anglais in New York. While at La Promenade des Anglais, Mr. Lucente was given the opportunity to be a sous chef on the popular culinary television show Iron Chef in April 2012.

Mr. Senecal brings both his management and wine expertise to Barcelona. Prior to this position, he held assistant general manager positions at Houston’s Restaurant in Atlanta and The Palm in New York City. In both locations, he focused on expanding their wine programs and educating his staff about the wines served at the restaurants. In January 2012, he received his Sommelier Certificate of Viniculture and Vinification from the Sommelier Society of America.

“Between Mr. Lucente’s love of Mediterranean cuisine and Mr. Senecal’s vast knowledge of wine,” the restaurant calls the duo “a perfect fit” for the Barcelona Greenwich team. Mr. Lucente will be offering a variety of interactive cooking classes at the restaurant throughout the year.

On Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 7 p.m. he will offer a Seafood Estofado cooking class and on Saturday, March 9 at 1 p.m. he will demonstrate how to make Barcelona’s signature chicken empanadas. Each class is $30 per person, plus tax and gratuity.

To reserve a spot in either class call Barcelona Greenwich at 203-983-6400. The restaurant is at 18 West Putnam Avenue.
