Tiny dancers

sch-ISD-ballet-2-7Third-grade students at the International School at Dundee (ISD) choreographed and performed their own ballet as part of a cultural partnership with the Connecticut Ballet. This partnership, which is designed to encourage students to appreciate, explore and discover their creativity and to express themselves through non-verbal communication, supports the school’s International Baccalaureate unit of study Meaningful Movements by giving students a comprehensive understanding of dance. The students’ dances were inspired by Aesop’s Fables. From left, third graders Jacob Bambino, Andrew O’Donnell, Chisato Yamane and Kaitlyn Lisjak, choreographed and performed a dance of Aesop’s Fable The Bear and the Bees as part of the school’s IB unit of study. Pictured with the students at far left are Jeremy Boland, ISD physical education teacher, and, at far right, Jessica Delia, Connecticut Ballet teaching artist.
