Brunswick wrestling team plasters Trinity School to end regular season 22-2

The Brunswick School wrestling team closed out its regular season at home today versus New York City’s Trinity School (6-6). The Bruins won the dual meet by a score of 74-6 to push their final season record to 22-2.

The match of the day was in the 195-pound weight class. featuring sophomore Matt Marvin and one of Trinity’s toughest wrestlers who was 10-3 on the year entering the match.

After a scoreless first period, Marvin earned an escape in the second period. His Trinity opponent tied the score in the third period, and the match went to overtime. After a scoreless overtime period, the match went on to double overtime. Marvin showed his tenacity and fitness by dominating the double overtime period, eventually pinning his man.

Sophomore Jack Jones (13-10) worked a second period pin against a wrestler who came in with a 9-2 record. Junior Rohan Das (16-14) used a last second reversal to grind out a 4-2 decision in the 113-pound weight class. Junior Owen Schubert moved to 29-5 on the year and ends the regular season with the team lead in wins (29), pins (17), and team points earned (125). Tri-captains senior Connor Kupersmith and junior Jimmy Bell both earned their 27th wins and 16th pins on the season.

Other pins were earned by freshman Griffin Thomas (7-5) and junior Gregg Nabhan (16-8). Junior Michael Keating (17-12) earned a technical fall.
