Brunswick wrestling team edges Greenwich High in thriller (slideshow)

On Thursday night, the Greenwich High School wrestling team hosted cross-town rival Brunswick School in the annual Town Crown. In front of a thunderous Greenwich home crowd, the match went to the final bout of the evening, as Brunswick’s Matt Marvin pinned his Big Red opponent in the 195-pound weight class and helped the Bruins pick up the thrilling 38-33 victory.

The Bruins had four pinfall victories on the day. In addition to Marvin’s clutch pinfall victory, Willy Rosato (220), Evan Jonokuchi (145) and Connor Kupersmith (152) all scored pinfall wins. For the Cardinals, the trio of Mark Chien (106), Alex Margeotes (113) and Mike Gestal (160) all netted pinfall victories.

With the victory, Brunswick upped its overall record to 18-2 on the season while Greenwich fell to 10-7.
