Sacred Heart hoops crushes Chase Collegiate, 62-35

The Convent of the Sacred Heart basketball team got back to its winning ways earlier today, slamming Chase Collegiate, 62-35.

Emily O’Sullivan had herself a game for the Tigers, finishing with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Teammate Claire O’Neill also finished in double-digits with points, netting 10 on the day and adding seven boards. Kayla Souza also fared well, adding nine points and five rebounds.

Sacred Heart head coach Sean Green said that the Tigers were so dominant because of their ability to get the ball to O’Sullivan and that Chase was playing with only seven athletes on the roster.

“We quickly took advantage of that down low with our center Emily O’Sullivan,” Green said. “Fortunately in the first half our shots were hitting and our defense was jelling. We rode this out throughout the entire game. This was a good win as a back to a tough Rye Country Day loss on Thursday.”

With the victory, Sacred Heart improved to 10-5 on the season and will be back in action Monday when they travel to School of the Holy Child.
