Cards’ ice hockey falls to Tigers, 3-1

In a game where all the scoring took place in the opening period, the Greenwich High School boys ice hockey team came up on the wrong side of the scoreboard earlier this evening at the Winter Garden Ice Arena, falling 3-1 to Ridgefield High School.

Big Red got its lone goal from Decker Curran, as he took the pass from Brian Silard and found the back of the net at the 12:12 mark of the first.

The Tigers came out and tallied a quick score, as Shane Luery got the pass from Geoffrey Schneider and Christian O’Connell and drilled the shot past GHS goalie Jimmy Piotrzkowski at the 8:18 mark.

Less than a minute later Ridgefield struck again, as Vincent Rella got the goal to put the Tigers up 2-0. Only 1:53 later, the Tigers struck again, as Cameron McGuire got the goal and Schneider and Andrew DeLalla netted assists.

Ridgefield was firing shots at net throughout the evening and doubled up Greenwich’s shot total, 34-17.
