Brunswick wrestling team wins FAA championships yet again

The Brunswick School wrestling team had a stellar outing earlier day, as they once again struck gold in the Fairchester Athletic Association championship meet.

Brunswick, which won its 16th consecutive FAA championship and 29 out of the last 30, finished this year’s meet going 4-0 on the day. The Bruins started the day with a 63-6 victory over Hamden Hall and followed that up with a 54-21 thrashing of Greens Farms Academy. In the semis, Brunswick took to the mat against Rye Country Day School and had little trouble in that match, winning 66-9.

In the final match of the day, the Bruins clinched the championship with a 63-18 victory over Hopkins School.

Brunswick had a plethora of athletes finish tops in their respective weight class. At 160, Gregg Nabhan went 4-0. his highlight was against Hamden Hall, as he came away with a 7-4 decision and earned a victory against last year’s WNEISWA finalist.

Other athletes going 4-0 and earning All-FAA honors was Rohan Das (113), Owen Schubert (126), Jimmy Bell (132), Evan Jonokuchi (138), Connor Kupersmith (152), Matt Marvin (195), Willy Rosato (220) and Nick Ulanoff (285).

Johnny Erdman also had a stellar outing, as he beat a Hamden Hall wrestler that finished fourth in last year’s WNEISWA championship meet.
