Greenwich boys swim team upends Danbury, 138-44

The Greenwich High School boys swimming and diving team took to the pool against Danbury High School and came away with the 138-44 victory earlier today.

Greenwich was led by double winner Jack Montesi, who took first in the 100-yard freestyle (53.60 seconds) and the 50-yard freestyle (23.69). In the 200-yard events, Greenwich dominated. In the 200-yard freestyle, James Hintzen tok top honors with a time of 2:02.35, while teammate John Enquist finished with the gold in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:10.03.

In the longest event of the day, the 500-yard freestyle, Greenwich was paced by Tyler Triscari, who finished tops with a time of 5:30.46. In the 100-yard backstroke, Big Red was led by Thomas Dillinger, who took first with a time of 57.96. Greenwich’s Alex Lewis took home a first place time of 1:06.68 in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Another first place finisher was Will Klingner, who touched the wall in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.53. When it came to diving, no one was better than Greenwich’s Jeff Aselin, who finished with 234.70 points.

Greenwich also finished first in two of the three relay events. In the 200-yard medley relay, the foursome of Andrew Stotesbery, Tim Agro, Lewis and Luca Fikre finished with a time of 1:46.10. In the final event of the day, the 400-yard freestyle relay, the team of Fikre, Jack Kerwin, Hintzen and Agro took first place overall with a time of 3:49.25.

Greenwich (8-0) will be back in action Saturday when they travel to Fairfield University and battle defending state champion Fairfield Prep at 4 p.m.
