Sacred Heart basketball falls to Hamden Hall, 59-39

The Convent of the Sacred Heart basketball team fell behind Hamden Hall early on Saturday and couldn’t bounce back, coming away with the 59-39 loss.

Hamden Hall outscored the Tigers 36-25 in the first half and finished just four points shy of what Sacred Heart scored in the entire contest. Colleen O’Neill finished with a team-high 14 points and added five rebounds, while Emily O’Sullivan finished with 10 points and a team-high 18 rebounds. Claire O’Neill pitched in with 11 points and seven boards in the losing effort.

“Hamden Hall improved a lot since last year, adding some new additions on the outside and the inside,” Sacred Heart head coach Sean Green said. “They were very athletic and very disciplined on offense and basically ran us out of our own gym. We didn’t execute our offense, shoot the ball well or stop any one on defense.”

With the loss, Sacred Heart fell to 8-3 overall and 3-1 in the Fairchester Athletic Association. They will be back in action Saturday when they battle Taft Schol.
