Education symposium celebrates Jewish learning

The 2018 annual Education Symposium is a celebration of lifelong Jewish learning and brings a lineup of esteemed speakers to the Greenwich community, courtesy of UJA-JCC Greenwich Women’s Philanthropy.

On Wednesday, Feb. 7, after a buffet breakfast beginning at 9:15 a.m., attendees will learn from natural foods chef, author and TV host Andrea Beaman on her topic, Let Food Be Your Medicine; Chris Nicola — an FBI-trained undercover investigator and award-winning cave expedition leader who discovered and documented the incredible story of 38 Jews who survived the Holocaust by living underground in his film, No Place on Earth; and Love and Consent in Jewish Tradition with Rabbi Daniel Gropper. In the age of sexual harassment scandals and the #MeToo movement, Rabbi Gropper will present what Judaism has to say about how we treat each other in loving and consenting relationships.

“The Educational Symposium of Women’s Philanthropy is one of our stellar yearly events. Come learn and be stimulated by three outstanding speakers. With the new program format, there’s no need to choose breakouts. All three guests will speak to all attendees,” said Honorary Chair, Joan Mann.

Event Co-Chair Kim Sands adds, “This year’s Education Symposium will definitely be the most interesting and inspiring morning of the year! We always have a diverse selection of speakers on relevant topics and this year is another strong line-up.”

“The Education Symposium is a wonderful annual event that brings together folks from all over the community. It’s really stimulating to hear new perspectives and exchange ideas over coffee in between the sessions,” remarks Co-Chair Christine Toback.

This year’s Symposium will take place at Greenwich Reform Synagogue, 92 Orchard St. Cos Cob. Tickets are $60 if purchased in advance, and $72 at the door. Register online at ujajcc.org or call 203-552-1818.
