Greenwich Land Trust appoints new executive director

The Greenwich Land Trust has announced that Will Kies, a Greenwich native will join as executive director effective Nov. 28.

Kies has most recently served as Director of Education and Heckscher Farm at the Stamford Museum and Nature Center, where he has been in senior leadership for the past 10 years. He brings extensive management experience, program expertise, and knowledge of nonprofit administration to the Greenwich Land Trust. Prior to his employment at the Center, he has held positions at the University of Vermont, U.S. Geological Survey (Department of Interior), and Outdoor Explorations, as part of the AmeriCorps VISTA program.

A graduate of St. Lawrence University, Kies received his master’s degree in geography from University of Vermont. His graduate research and thesis was on conservation easements. He notes that “protecting land is more than just preserving picturesque landscapes; it is vital to healthy communities both human and natural.”
