Mianus River Gorge seeks volunteers for trail work

Volunteers are needed to help prepare the trails for the winter at Mianus River Gorge Preserve on Saturday, Nov. 5, from 10-3. Volunteers will help repair steps and trail edging and re-build retaining walls.

Mianus River Gorge Preserve is open to the public from April 1 through November 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. They are closed for the winter to allow trails to rest and allow the limited staff to focus on the preserve’s other priorities of research, education, and land protection.

The Gorge is open to hiking only. The Gorge is a private, non-profit organization. It is not a town park, and does not receive public funding. It is dependent on the generosity of volunteers who give of their time to help care for it.
