Ninth annual Howl and Prowl to benefit Adopt-A-Dog

Fund-raiser presented by Pet Pantry Warehouse

Pet Pantry Warehouse will host the 9th annual Howl and Prowl costume party to benefit Adopt-A-Dog on Sunday Oct. 23, from 1-4 p.m., in Greenwich Commons Park, 290 Greenwich Avenue. All proceeds from Howl and Prowl will benefit rescue and adoption programs of Adopt-A-Dog.

More than 500 people and their dogs will party in costume on Greenwich Avenue and participate in costume contests, visit exhibitors, enjoy food and beverages, get treats for pets and their parents and more. The costume contest for both pets and people includes prizes totaling $575 in Pet Pantry Warehouse gift certificates.

More than 15 pet food brands will be sponsoring the free event.

Pet Pantry Vice President Joshua Roth said, “It is hard to imagine that we are going into our 9th year for Howl and Prowl. What began as a simple idea has turned into a local institutional event that allows us a great chance to support an organization that we care deeply about.” Pet Pantry created Howl and Prowl© in 2008, and the event has become a staple town event ever since. There will be free photos courtesy of international portrait photography outfit Venture Photography (venturephotography.com/us/), free caricature drawings by artist Bill Hernandez (partycartoons.com), samples and giveaways by pet manufacturer sponsors, food trucks, activities for children, face painting and more. Themed music will be curated by NYC artist DJ Cochon De Lait (djcochondelait.com).

Howl and Prowl leading sponsor Blue Buffalo (bluebuffalo.com) talk about why they support Pet Pantry events and pet rescue organizations. “At BLUE we know that adopted animals can make the best friends. With millions of homeless pets across the country we wanted to show our support to our furry friends in need. As we have in years past, we pounced at the chance to sponsor Howl and Prowl and support the fine work done by Adopt-A-Dog! Much Like Pet Pantry Warehouse we care for the health and wellbeing of all pet family members.”

Brian Gordiski from Adopt-A-Dog praised the pet supply retailer and for its regular fundraising support. “Since Pet Pantry Warehouse developed Howl and Prowl in 2008, we have been humbled to be the exclusive beneficiary of this event. We count on their support throughout the year, and this day is a chance for us to just go out there and have fun! We wouldn’t have the ability to care for the amount of rescues we take in throughout the year without them, and we are humbled to have been a part of their fundraising initiatives for many years.
