Boy Scouts of America (BSA) Greenwich Scouting plans fall events

Boy Scouts of America (BSA) Greenwich Scouting plans an active fall season to get kids outside to have fun and connect with nature.

The annual fall Camporee Campout is for registered Boy Scouts and will take place the weekend of Oct.15-16. Whether your Scout is new to camping or not, this rain or shine event offers memorable experiences in the great outdoors.

Looking for a new, safe and spooky idea for Halloween fun? Head to their 3rd annual [email protected] on Sunday, Oct. 23, at 7:30 p.m. Guided tours will take your costumed Scouts (ages 7-11), non-scouting friends, siblings, and families, around to the creepy stations, decorations and a storyteller at the amphitheater. Visit their website to pre-register for this event.

Just before Thanksgiving, the Greenwich Council hosts the annual Turkey Shoot at Seton Scout Reservation on Saturday, Nov. 12. Don’t worry, they are not shooting for your Thanksgiving dinner — just enjoying activities such as: Archery, Slingshots, Hammer Throw, Giant Catapult, Marbles, and most importantly, Gun Safety. This is for registered BSA Cub Scouts with an adult; Boy Scouts are welcome to run the stations.

In addition to these events, each Pack or Troop host their own events. The new District Director Ray Garrison said, “I believe that there’s never been a better time for our youth to: connect with nature, participate in an adventure with friends, engage in our community, gain confidence, and ultimately build character.”
