A thrilling series of sailing events — all to support fighting cancer and finding a cure — returns this month when The American Yacht Club, Rye N.Y. teams up with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

The Leukemia Cup Regatta on Sept. 24 — part of the Yacht Club’s 2016 Fall Series Races — will support the LLS mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma, and improve the quality of life for patients and their families.

The Regatta is not just for sailors. All are welcome at The Leukemia Cup Party on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $75 a person. You can also donate and support Regatta participants at

“American Yacht Club is honored to host a Leukemia Cup and support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society,” Jim Wilson, chair of the organizing committee, said. “Many of our members and their families have been affected by blood cancers, and this is a great opportunity to help accelerate cures and recognize the great work of the LLS.

“We look forward to having sailors and non-sailors in the Westchester-New York City area join the effort to ensure that all patients have access to the treatments they need to live longer, better and healthier lives,” Wilson said.

Gary Jobson, the national chairman of the Leukemia Cup Regatta, is a lymphoma survivor and says he is living proof of the importance of supporting events like The Leukemia Cup Regatta.

“The support of locations like the American Yacht Club have been vital to enabling LLS to help more people who are on the front lines of the cancer battle,” Jobson said “I am living proof of the research and treatment advances.”

To date, participants have raised more than $54 million to help advance the LLS mission since the inception of the Leukemia Cup Regatta.
