Jewish Family Services of Greenwich receives $4,000 grant

Jewish Family Services of Greenwich has announced the presentation of a $4,000 Grant Award from the First County Bank Foundation. This is the sixth grant they have received from the First County Bank Foundation, to be used exclusively to help support their Supermarketing for Seniors (SFS) program.

Supermarketing for Seniors is a free grocery shopping and case management program established in 1986 in response to the needs of a growing number of frail and elderly Greenwich residents who wanted to continue to live quality, independent lives in their own homes but were unable to do so without assistance in doing their marketing.  Although it was started by and is run by Jewish Family Services of Greenwich, Supermarketing for Seniors serves individuals of all backgrounds  The only eligibility requirement is that a person be 60 years or older and live in the Town of Greenwich.  There is no fee for this service.

Established in 2001 in honor of the bank’s 150th anniversary, the First County Bank Foundation was created to distribute funds annually to nonprofit organizations that support community and economic development for children and families.  As a mutual community bank with no shareholders, First County Bank considers contributions made by the Foundation a means of paying dividends back to the local communities it serves.

In 2015 the First County Bank employees contributed over 1,000 hours of volunteer time to community-based organizations, and the Bank, through its sponsorship of local fundraising events combined with Foundation grant making activity, provided over $850,000 in total grants and sponsorships to the local community.

First County Bank, headquartered in Stamford, Conn. for more than 160 years, is an independent mutual community bank with 15 branches in Stamford, Greenwich, Darien, New Canaan, Norwalk and Westport offering deposit products, mortgages, trust and investment services, business banking services and online banking.  First County Bank has more than 220 employees and assets in excess of $1.3 billion.  For additional information, visit www.firstcountybank.com.
