Newly restored YMCA of Greenwich ready to ‘sail’ away at gala

The YMCA of Greenwich is ready to set sail on its annual fund-raising adventure, taking place at the Y — which will be turned into “the hottest nightclub in town” — on Saturday, Jan. 12.

This year’s event, “Set Sail with the YMCA,” is co-chaired by Ginge and Jim Cabrera and features a nautical theme.

The newly restored YMCA will be transformed that evening into a seafaring adventure, kicking off with cocktails aboard the “boat deck” and then visiting four exciting “ports of call,” with delicious food generously donated by top local restaurants: L’Escale (France), Gabriele’s (Italy), Douro (Portugal) and Barcelona (Spain). The passengers will then dance the night away.

“We’re very excited to highlight the YMCA’s beautiful restoration at a fabulous event like no other,” said Ms. Cabrera. “Unlike typical sit-down galas, we’re inviting people to enjoy different “ports of call” with food from top local restaurants, and dance the night away — all at the Y. What better way to support an amazing cause while rediscovering this amazing community center, right in the middle of town.”

Another highlight of the gala will be an exclusive Set Sail destination raffle with the chance to win one of seven incredible trips — from a private island vacation in the Bahamas, to a luxury getaway on a prestigious island resort off the coast of Miami.
