Police investigate Belle Haven fatality

Greenwich police are investigating what appears to be a fatal fall Monday afternoon on Bush Avenue in Belle Haven.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released but Greenwich Police Department Lt. Kraig Gray confirmed on Monday that there was a fatality. The person appears to have been working on the property before falling from a tree that was estimated to be as high as 30 feet tall. A third party on the adjacent property saw the incident and called 911 a little after 3 p.m.

Lt. Gray said that Greenwich Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and performed CPR on the person before taking them to Greenwich Hospital’s Emergency Room. The person was pronounced dead there.

The investigation is continuing and Lt. Gray said that the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration is responding to the scene.

Lt. Gray said there would be no further comment on Monday but details are expected to be released tomorrow.
