RMA: Securing Safe Water Supplies for Future Generations

Retired Men’s Association of Greenwich, Inc. (RMA) will hold its next meeting featuring Patrick Decker who will speak about “Securing Safe Water Supplies for Future Generations” on June 29, at 10:40 a.m., at First Presbyterian Church, Greenwich.

Over the next several decades, the world’s cities will be home to 2.5 billion more people than reside there today. Where will the water come from to sustain this population growth and the economic health of these metropolises? Where will crops grow when the aquifers that nourished them are parched? Imagine a world where bottled water is more expensive than a bottle of wine.

Patrick Decker will describe some of the challenges our world faces in terms of enabling secure access to safe water supplies as well as some of the existing and emerging solutions.  Decker is President and CEO of Xylem Inc. (NYSE: XYL), a company at the forefront of a broad range of innovative technologies for municipal and industrial use, such as smart water and wastewater infrastructure, advanced forms of water treatment, wastewater filtration and disinfection, water reuse solutions, and advance monitoring and testing solutions.

Decker became president and Chief Executive Officer of Xylem in March 2014. He also serves as a Director on the Board. As a leader in the water industry, Decker serves on the Energy and Environment Committee for the Business Roundtable, and as a member of the Bipartisan Policy Center’s Executive Council on Infrastructure, which is developing recommendations on initiatives to encourage additional private sector investment in infrastructure to promote economic growth.

He currently serves on the advisory council for the Dean of the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and finance from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.

The Greenwich Retired Men’s Association offers a free program every Wednesday that is open to the public, both men and women; no reservations are required.
