Police say late night blaze an act of arson

A fire that took place at a construction site on Lockwood Road late Wednesday night is currently being considered an act of arson.

According to police, the blaze took place at approximately 11 p.m. on Jan. 2. Emergency dispatchers received several calls reporting a fire and possible explosion.

Officers responding to the scene found a large excavating vehicle fully engulfed in flames. The vehicle is valued at $150,000 and is now considered a total loss, police said.

While no one was injured, several “suspicious” facts and circumstances were revealed during police investigation and the incident is being investigated as a deliberate act.
