Old Greenwich tradition

On Dec. 14, as news of the horrific tragedy from Newtown came in, Old Greenwich School gymnasium was filled with hundreds of kindergarten parents counting their blessings. All three kindergarten classes performed the annual Kindergarten Alphabet Play. Nearly 80 five- and six-year-olds were dressed up like a toy shop and playing angels, soldiers, dolls, elves and other creatures. There were a lot of tears during the festivity and some parents commented to each other a sense of guilt that they were enjoying this beautiful hour while our neighbors in Fairfield County were in the middle of such an unthinkable tragedy. The Kindergarten Alphabet Play is a wonderful tradition at OGS that this year was cherished more than ever.
