Kids in Crisis announces honorary chairs for Navigators Stamford KIC IT race weekend

Kids in Crisis has announced its co-chairs for the Navigators Stamford KIC IT Race Weekend, set to take place the weekend of June 11 and 12: Ernie Orgera, Director of Operations for the City of Stamford, and Assistant Chief Tom Wuennemann of the Stamford Police. Orgera and Wuennemann have accepted the honorary chairmanship on behalf of the Stamford Police Department and the Stamford Department of Operations.

“The Navigators Stamford KIC IT Race Weekend is not possible without the tremendous support of the Stamford Police Department and Stamford Department of Operations,” said Shari Shapiro, Executive Director of Kids in Crisis. “We thank all who have helped make this a signature event of the City of Stamford and have helped draw awareness to services provided by Kids in Crisis for children and families.”

Registration is still open for the Olympic, Sprint and Kids Triathlons and 5k and 10k runs for a limited time; race day registration will not be available for the triathlons. Online registration will close Thursday, June 9. For more information and to register, visit

The Navigators Stamford KIC IT Triathlon Race Weekend has grown into an outstanding series of athletic events, attracting competitors from across the country, while maintaining a special focus on offering a fun family experience. The entire weekend benefits Kids in Crisis (, Connecticut’s only free, round-the-clock agency providing emergency shelter, crisis counseling and community educational programs for children of all ages and families dealing with a wide range of crises – domestic violence, mental health and family problems, substance abuse, economic difficulties and more. Since its founding in 1978, Kids in Crisis has helped more than 132,000 Connecticut children and families; last year, more than 6,000 children and families received assistance from the organization.
