Police to swear in new officer

The police will welcome a new officer on Jan. 2, 2013, when he will be sworn in as an official member of the Greenwich Police Department.

Alberto E. Escoffery will attend the swearing-in ceremony held in First Selectman Peter Tesei’s office, where his friends and family have been invited to attend. After Mr. Escoffery is sworn in, he will be required to complete an 18-month probationary period, commencing Jan. 2.

Mr. Escoffery resides in Stamford. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Mass. with a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in Legal Studies and minors in Psychology, Sociology, Criminology and Hotel and Restaurant Management.

Prior to becoming a police officer Mr. Escoffery was a firearms instructor, providing instruction to individuals in the care and proper use of firearms. He has also worked as a manager and assistant manager in several local restaurants.
