Greenwich United Way reaches 96% of community investment fund goal

The Greenwich United Way has reached 96% of its annual Community Investment Fund goal with less than six weeks to raise the remaining dollars. The organization targets unmet human service needs by funding programs and agencies that require the most support based on periodic assessments of needs in the community. Greenwich residents and service providers have until June 30, 2016 to support the Community Investment Fund by making a tax deductible monetary donation before July 1.

Greenwich United Way CEO, David Rabin urges residents and local businesses who have not supported the organization yet to consider a donation as soon as possible. “Every dollar makes a difference” Rabin explains, “We need approximately $100,000.00 to reach our goal before the end of our fiscal. I urge Greenwich to unite so that the most critical programs and agencies in our community, that depend on our support most, continue to receive the funding they need”.

The Annual Campaign at the Greenwich United Way is funded through the annual Residential Appeal, Employee Giving campaigns and annual fundraising events such as the Sole Sisters Luncheon and Brew Ha Ha Comedy Night, which debuted last October in replace of Oktoberfest. Programs funded by the Annual Campaign include: pre-school scholarships, transportation for seniors and those with developmental disabilities and assisting families with supplemental food. For the first time in history, Greenwich United Way received a match grant from Tudor Foundation and Nitron Group this year.

A donation to the Greenwich United Way can be made online (www.unitedway-greenwich.com/donate), by mail (1 Lafayette Court, Greenwich CT 06830), by phone (203-869-2221) or in person. A complete list of the human service programs and agencies funded by this year’s campaign can be found on the Greenwich United Way website (www.greenwichunitedway.org).
