Pedestrian struck and killed by tractor trailer

A pedestrian walking along Interstate 95 died late Thursday night after being struck by a tractor trailer near exit 2 in Greenwich.

According to State Police, Joshua Jacobs, 37, of Port Chester, N.Y. was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which took place just after 11 p.m.

Upon investigation, police at the scene reportedly determined that Frederick Schmitz, 28, of Pennsylvania was heading north in a tractor trailer near the off ramp of exit 2 on I95 in the right of three lanes. At the same time, Mr. Jacobs was walking along the right shoulder near the off ramp, then walked into the right lane in front of the tractor trailer.
