Greenwich High wrestling dominates Wilton High, 57-16

The Greenwich High School wrestling team kept the good times rolling with a dominating 57-16 victory over Wilton High School earlier today.

Big Red was paced the duo of Mike Gestal and Eric Tack, who each picked up pinfall victories. Tack won the 152-pound weight class with a pinfall at the 2:28 mark, while Gestal won in the 160-pound weight class at the 2:36 mark.


At 113, Mark Chien won by technical fall, 17-1, while Grant Cucchissi beat his Wilton opponent 9-1 in the 182-pound weight class.

The rest of Greenwich’s victories came via a forfeit, as Thomas Williams (220), Michael Fahy (285), Michael Russell (106), Alex Margeotes (120), Justin Montier (170) and Mark Nielson (195) all netted key points.

With the victory, the Cardinals improved its record to 2-0 overall, while the Warriors fell to 0-2 on the season.

Greenwich will be back in action Saturday when they travel to John Jay-Cross River and also battle Fairfield Warde.
