Greenwich boys swim team moves to 2-0 with win over Norwalk

The Greenwich High School boys swimming and diving team upped its overall record to 2-0 on the season with a 116-64 victory over Norwalk/McMahon earlier today at the Pat Spinola Natatorium.

The highlight of the evening was a battle between two Greenwich relay teams in the 200-yard freestyle relay event. The foursome of Noah Freeman, J.T. Hintzman, Luca Fikre and Ed Moss were neck-in-neck with the group of Scott Carlson, Jack Kerwin and Matt Fraser. In the end, both teams touched the wall at the same moment, netting a time of 1:38.38.

Jack Montesi won on the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:04.97, while Fikre came out on top in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.62 seconds.

Moss took first in the 100-yard freestyle (52.02), while teammate Taylor Moore finished tops in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.05.

In the diving, Big Red’s Andrew Bologna took the gold with 247.88 points.

In addition to the wins in the 200-yard freestyle relay, the Greenwich foursome of Matt Fraser, Moore, Andrew Wolf and Moss won the 400-yard freestyle with a time of 3:35.16.

Norwalk/McMahon also had some strong performances.

Anthony Dell’Isola was the lone athlete to finish with two individual top honors, winning the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:01.78. He backed that up with a victory in the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.49).

Sherman Lau also grabbed gold with a time of 1:02.58 in the 100-yard breaststroke.
