Family Centers to hold open discussions on Newtown impact

In light of the recent tragedy in Newtown, Family Centers will offer open discussions for parents, caregivers and educators. This discussion will allow adults an opportunity to talk about the events, the impact it has had on their children, ask for advice on how to talk to their children about trauma and receive feedback from professionals.

The primary open discussion will take place Tuesday, Dec. 18 at 9:30 a.m. at Family Centers, 40 Arch Street.

Family Centers, along with the Darien Library and other community providers, will also offer an additional group discussion. It will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. in the Darien Library Community Room.

In addition, Family Centers’ clinical services and Trauma Response Team are available to those impacted by the Newtown shooting. Their team of specialists provide on-site counseling and Critical Incident Stress Management/ Psychological First Aid services to schools, organizations or businesses to assist in traumatic or crisis situations.
