Mondays @ 7 presents How to Make Your Age an Asset

Mondays @ 7 group presents How to Make Your Age an Asset Monday, May 2, at 8 a.m., at the United Methodist Church of Westport and Weston, 49 Weston Road in Westport.

In spite of the strong age bias in the American job market, executives in their late forties and older have several advantages that they can leverage to overcome it. Among them are five critical skills that have evolved with experience: problem solving, people management, leadership, decision making, and judgment. I discuss all five in depth and explain how they can best be leveraged in networking and interviewing.

Tucker Mays is a principal of OptiMarket, LLC. an executive job search coaching firm which he co-founded in 2001 to work exclusively with senior level executives to help them find their next opportunity in the shortest time possible. He began his career in Wall Street with Goldman Sachs, and then moved to the consumer products industry to pursue his strong interest in marketing.  In 2011, with his OptiMarket co-founder and business partner Bob Sloane, Tucker co-authored the book Fired at 50 – How to Overcome the Greatest Executive Job Search Challenge which is the first step-by-step “how to” book to help executives over age 50 overcome the age bias to find their next job opportunity.

Tucker has held positions as president/COO for several mid-market consumer products companies where he has grown prominent U.S. and international brands. He holds a BA from Dartmouth College and an MBA in Marketing/Finance from the Columbia Graduate School of Business. He is also a Mentor Program graduate of Corporate Coach University and a founding member of the Executive Forum, where he served on the board for many years and established the Mentoring Program.
