Tappan Zee Bridge to close lanes for construction

The state Thruway Authority announced that it will be closing three of the four northbound lanes on the Tappan Zee Bridge as part of the construction for the New NY Bridge.

The pier construction will close only three of the northbound lanes from 9 p.m. to 2 p.m. April 29 to May 1; the construction will not impact the bridge’s southbound lanes.

The Thruway Authority said individuals planning to travel northbound on I-87 and I-287 near the Tappan Zee Bridge should expect severe travel delays between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. on April 30 and May 1. They also recommend that travelers seek alternate routes to get to their intended destination.

The work is weather-dependent. The rain date for construction is May 6.
