Greenwich girls basketball team falls to Warde in close contest, 53-50

Although the Greenwich High School girls basketball team held a slim 27-25 lead over Fairfield Warde High School earlier tonight, they were unable to hold on down the stretch, falling 53-50.

Jenny Cespedes was Big Red’s all-around leader, finishing with 15 points, six assists and four steals. Not to be outdone was Jaime Kockenmeister, who finished with 12 points, eight rebounds and six assists.

Teammate Abby Wolf added nine points and 10 rebounds, but Caroline Barrett finished with eight points.Gabby Ruiz added two points.

Helping out on the boards was the duo of Britney Rodriguez and Rebecca Kural, as each finished with nine rebounds.

With the loss, the Cardinals fell to 1-2 on the season and will take to the court Friday night when they battle Trinity Catholic High School.
