Holiday concert offers variety of musicians

The Stanwich Congregational Church will present a potpourri of holiday music led by Sean Jackson, its newly appointed organist and director of music, on Saturday, Dec. 15, at 3 p.m.

The concert will feature the Stanwich Choir and soloists Denise LeVan, soprano, Wendy Gerbier, mezzo-soprano, and Wiley Maddox, bass.

Also participating will be guest artists violinist Anna Leinbach, soprano Amy Clapp Dye, Stephen Clapp, violinist and Dean Emeritus of The Juilliard School.

Dr. Jackson, originally from Barbados, was a recipient of a National Development Scholarship from the Barbados Government. He received his Bachelor of Music degree at the Royal College of Music, London, and graduated in 2004 from Juilliard with his Doctorate and Master of Music degrees.

Dr. Jackson spent six years as Assistant Organist at Trinity Episcopal Church, Wall Street, where he recorded with the Trinity Choir on the Naxos label. Most recently he was director of music at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Stamford.

Dr. Jackson’s past performances include a solo concert at The Washington National Cathedral and with orchestras at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall. He has several recordings to his credit and recently started a web podcast series on hymns.

Stanwich Congregational Church is located at 202 Taconic Road.
