Family Centers to celebrate “Week of the Young Child” April 11-15

Family Centers’ Early Care and Education program will kick off a weeklong schedule of activities on April 11 in celebration of the “Week of the Young Child.”

Sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the Week of the Young Child™ is an annual observance designed to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families.  The celebration also puts the spotlight on local early childhood programs and the services they offer to promote healthy development.

Throughout the week, Family Centers’ three NAEYC-accredited preschool sites in Greenwich will hold special events like music demonstrations, nutrition education and child/parent reading time.  Notable events include:

  • Music and Movement with Mr. Sucic – Local musician will play harmonica and accordion for children at the Gateway Preschool.  The event takes place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 11 at 2 Chapel Street in Greenwich
  • Family Breakfast – On Friday, April 15 at 9 a.m., children at the Joan Melber Warburg Early Childhood Center (22 Bridge Street in Greenwich) will have breakfast with their families.

Family Centers’ Early Care and Education program is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), which is largely considered the gold standard for preschool programs.  Family Centers provides preschool services that are developmentally and socially rich for children between the ages of 6-weeks and five years.
