Sacred Heart basketball beats Greenwich Academy in cross-town rival hoops contest

The Convent of the Sacred Heart basketball team bested cross-town rival Greenwich Academy in basketball, 52-23 earlier this afternoon.

The Tigers took a 26-7 halftime lead and never looked back. Colleen O’Neill and Kayla Souza finished with 12 points apiece, while Claire O’Neill and Bridget Scaturro each added eight points.

Galen Hughes was Greenwich Academy’s high scorer, finishing with seven points. The duo of Julia Hyman and Emma Onley each finished with four points.

With the victory, Sacred Heart upped its overall record to 4-0, while the Gators fell to 1-4 on the season.

The Gators will be back in action a week from today when they travel to the School of the Holy Child. The Tigers will be in action Friday night when they start competition in the Kingswood Oxford Invitational Tournament.
