National Walking Day event April 6

The American Heart Association, Norwalk Merritt 7 Corporate Park businesses and their employees, Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling and health department reps will host a National Walking Day one-mile fun walk, health information and giveaways rain or shine on Wednesday, April 6, at noon, at 301 Merritt 7 office park in Norwalk (the new office location of the American Heart Association is at 501).

Employees are spending more time at work and sitting in front of a screen than ever before. As a culture, we’ve become less active, which can increase risk of heart disease, stroke and other diseases. The American Heart Association’s National Walking Day kicks off a month-long celebration designed to help us all become more active.

On the day of the event, April 6, participants are encouraged to lace up their sneakers and take 30 minutes out of their day to get up and walk.

Employees at Merritt 7 will walk, but all residents are invited to walk in their own communities, at work, home and school.
