Antiquarius offers holiday house tour, boutique shopping and lecture

It’s almost time for The Antiquarius 2012 Holiday House Tour to benefit the Greenwich Historical Society and this year there will be five high-style homes bathed in the sights, scents and sounds that make the holidays in Greenwich special.

This year’s tour will feature a Normandy-style retreat in backcountry Greenwich, a sophisticated designer home in town, a magnificently crafted manse on the Belle Haven peninsula and two jaw-dropping mid-country estates. And, back by popular demand, there will be VIP parking passes for private cars to be used for on-street parking at four of the five homes and a country club luncheon for the day of the tour.

The Antiquarius Holiday Boutique, which promises a mix of new vendors and perennial favorites, will meet the demands of everyone’s holiday list. Shoppers can enjoy a cash bar and passed hors d’oeuvres on opening night, Tuesday, Dec. 4, or shop before, during or after the tour on Wednesday, Dec. 5.

New this year, the Historical Society will celebrate the opening of Antiquarius with an appearance by celebrity interior designer Miles Redd. Known for his quirky brand of glamour, Mr. Redd will talk about his new book, The Big Book of Chic, a lavishly illustrated volume that features a wide array of Mr. Redd’s inspired interiors. A question and answer session and private book signing will follow.

Tickets are available at two levels. “Redd Carpet” level tickets are $250 and include cocktails, hot hors d’oeuvres, lecture, a question and answer session plus a signed copy of The Big Book of Chic. Tickets at the “Too Chic to Speak” patron level are $500 and include all of the above plus reserved seating and recognition in the program.

An Evening With Miles Redd takes place Tuesday, Dec. 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. at 19 Doubling Road, Club Living Room. The lecture begins promptly at 5:30. Space is limited.

Advance purchase is required for the Holiday House Tour and An Evening With Miles Redd.

The Holiday House Tour takes place Wednesday, Dec. 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are $100 and VIP parking passes are $250. The country club buffet lunch at the Boutique is $45. Tickets, VIP parking pass and lunch must be purchased in advance and will be mailed a week prior to the tour.

The Holiday Boutique is on Tuesday, Dec. 4 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 19 Doubling Road. Admission to the Holiday Boutique is free.

Tickets are available at Greenwichhistory.org or at 203-869-6899, ext. 10.
