Town to declare Dec. 1 First Responders Day

The town’s first responders and emergency personnel will receive recognition for their hard work on Saturday, Dec. 1, when Greenwich residents, merchants, families and friends are invited to gather at the Sound Beach Fire House, 207 Sound Beach Avenue, to salute them.

The town of Greenwich, the office of the selectmen, residents of Old Greenwich, the Old Greenwich Merchants’ Association and the Old Greenwich Association will host the ceremony. The tribute will begin at 6:30 p.m. during Old Greenwich’s annual First Light festivities.

Fire departments from Greenwich and Stamford, Greenwich Police, Greenwich Emergency Medical Services (GEMS), CT National Guard, American Red Cross and the town’s departments of Emergency Management, Parks & Recreation and Public Works will all be recognized for outstanding service to the community.

The ceremony will include brief comments from a handful of local citizens, First Selectman Peter Tesei’s declaration of First Responders Day, the presentation of a banner and a final, collective cheer of sparkling cider.

All are invited to join this public tribute.
