Local businesses invited to show off holiday spirit

Got a knack for holiday decorating? If your local business has a store front, then you can join the Chamber of Commerce for its annual holiday decorating contest, taking place Dec. 1 through Dec. 5.

Businesses are encouraged to decorate their storefronts in the spirit of the holidays and will be eligible to win prizes and special recognition for their efforts.

This year’s windows will be evaluated by four groups of judges and the town will be broken into four areas: Central Greenwich, defined as starting from the intersection of North Street and East Putnam Avenue and ending at the Anthropologie store on West Putnam Avenue and includes Greenwich Avenue and all side streets; Byram, Glenville and Pemberwick; Cos Cob and Riverside; and Old Greenwich. There will be two winners per geographic area for Best Classic Holiday Store Front and Best Original Holiday Store Front. Prizes include free advertising on the chamber’s website, 50% off a 2012 chamber membership and special recognition at the chamber’s well attended holiday party.

The judging begins on Saturday, Dec. 1 and will run through Wednesday, Dec. 5. Winners will be announced on Tuesday, Dec. 11 at the chamber’s Holiday Party and Storefront Decorating Awards event which will be held at Arthur Murray Grande Ballroom at 6 Lewis Street from 5:30 to 7 p.m. This party is open to members and non-members.
