Basketball tournament to benefit local families

Registration is now open for the 2nd annual SJPC Stamford 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament, to be held on Sunday, March 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Chelsea Piers Stamford.

The tournament has two divisions: Men’s Open; and Co-ed Open. There are no age qualifications or limitations in each division and each team may register 3-5 players. The tournament format is double elimination with commemorative basketball jerseys for all registrants and trophies for the winning teams in each division.

“The tournament is limited to 64 teams,” said Tournament Director Stan Galanski, “So it is important that teams register quickly as we expect to sell out. We had a great inaugural event last March at Chelsea Piers and know it will be even better this year. We are gratified by the strong corporate support for the event. I urge team captains to register today in order to secure a spot for their team.”

Interested teams can register online at sjpcenter.org

The Tournament benefits St. Joseph Parenting Center (SJPC), a Stamford-based 501 (c) (3) organization that strengthens families at risk of abusing or neglecting young children by providing parenting education and support, including food. SJPC is the only non-profit organization in Fairfield County solely dedicated to parent education.
