Adopt-A-Dog receives $15,000 donation

Adopt-A-Dog, a Greenwich-based nonprofit shelter and sanctuary for rescued cats and dogs, has received a $15,000 donation from The Veterinary Cancer Center (VCC) to support the shelter’s animal care and adoption initiatives.

The funds also contributed to Adopt-A-Dog’s 25th anniversary Puttin’ on the Dog fundraising and adoption eventwhoch was held on Sept. 23.

The VCC is a specialized veterinary practice dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of cancer in animals and led by a nationally recognized team of board-certified oncologists. The VCC participates in clinical trials with organizations such as Animal Clinic Investigation, which is the largest veterinary oncology clinical trials organization in the United States, to advance comparative oncology and veterinary medical research that will change the world.

“Not only are we a team of doctors, we’re also a team of animal lovers and are sympathetic to the plight of all those in need,” said Gerald Post, VCC’s lead oncologist. “Upon learning about Adopt-A-Dog’s health and education initiatives in the care and placement of its animals, we felt strongly that theirs was an organization we could help. The VCC is proud to support Adopt-A-Dog’s efforts.”

The VCC is also a premier sponsor of Puttin’ on the Dog, an annual event that was presented by Pet Pantry Warehouse and offered fun dog competitions, auctions and pet adoptions.

“We are so grateful for the support of The Veterinary Cancer Center and we’re thrilled to receive such a generous donation,” said Adopt-A-Dog president Allyson Halm. “Their commitment to positive animal welfare aligns with our own and we feel confident that hundreds more adoptable dogs and cats will not only receive expert care, but will be placed in safe, permanent homes as a result of this gift.”
