‘Outstanding’ local teen to be recognized by Moffly Media

The Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich is looking forward to seeing teen club member Jenny Cespedes being honored by Moffly Media as “Outstanding Teen Volunteer” on Nov. 29, when Moffly Media will celebrate its fifth annual Light a Fire Awards.

The event, aimed at celebrating Fairfield County’s non-profit and philanthropic leaders, will be held at Greenwich Academy’s Massey Theater.

In announcing her honor, the Boys & Girls Club said they have seen 16-year-old Jenny develop into a dynamo since joining the club at age six, citing her status as an honor roll student, volleyball player, captain of the basketball team at Greenwich High School and as a natural born leader. She participates in multiple activities with the club including involvement with Greenwich Cardinal Keystone, a leadership club for teens ages 14 to 18 that focuses on academic success, career preparation and community service.

Jenny is said to be a shining example of a club member. Even while her mother, a survivor of cancer, was battling the illness, she didn’t miss a beat when it came to supporting the needs of her club peers.

“She is great with children and genuinely cares about giving back to the community. We are proud that Moffly Media has chosen to recognize her and that the community will see how truly special she is,” said Melissa Hawkins, Boys & Girls Club teen coordinator and Jenny’s advisor.

Outstanding individuals and organizations from across lower Fairfield County will be honored during the awards presentation Nov. 29 from 6:30 to 9 p.m., which will be preceded by cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Those who have gone beyond the ordinary to extraordinary in their giving back to our community will be saluted at the event.

This year’s awards ceremony is sponsored by Wells Fargo Advisors, George N. Venizelos Managing Director-Investments and Abbey Tent. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Fairfield County Community Foundation.

Tickets are available at ilovefc.com for $65. For more information on tickets contact Caroline Coursen at 203-571-1631.
