Karl Soderlund presents Emerging Artists at the Bruce Kershner Gallery

Emerging Artists, a show of the art of Karl Soderlund and eight of his students runs from Jan. 23-March 6, in the Bruce Kershner Gallery, Fairfield Public Library, 1080 Old Post Road, Fairfield.

The public is invited to a reception on Saturday, Jan. 30, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Kershner Gallery hours are Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, 9-5; Sunday, 1-5.

Karl Soderlund has been a fine artist his entire life and is well known for his portraits, seascapes and landscapes. You can find his work hanging in over 250 public and private collections, including Interpublic Companies, Merrill Lynch, PepsiCo and the Heisman Trophy portrait collection. In 2002, Karl led the introduction of the Heisman Trophy Awards on national television by painting that year’s winner. In 2010 Karl had his first Solo exhibit at the National Arts Club in NYC featuring his series “Iconic Obsessions”. Karl also teaches at “The Studio” in Fairfield.        

Robin Berman lives in Stamford and works full time as an IT professional. She has taken art lessons throughout her life. She is inspired primarily by her travel experiences and paints from photos she has taken on her journeys.

Pascale Butcher is a very active triathlon coach and triathlete. She grew up in France and began painting ten years ago when she moved to Connecticut. She loves to escape in the world of painting where she can express her feelings for beauty and creativity.

Paul Christian enjoys and paints the outdoors and sports. He began painting 5 years ago, and continues to evolve my painting style and technique.

Marina Golos was born in Moscow, now lives in Shelton. She paints from life and says, “Since starting to paint, I have begun to view the world with a painter’s eye, finding paintings in all of my everyday experiences and travels.”

Carol Mackno is a retired Fairfield Ludlowe High School math teacher and was born in and still lives in Fairfield. She has been painting since 1998 and exhibited her oil paintings locally. She continues to grow as an artist while enjoying the wonders of painting.

Carole Southall is a Wilton artist. She studied printmaking with Jacob Lawrence at the University of Washington. Storytelling underlies most of her work as well as color, shape, and rhythm.

June Topar lives in Fairfield and helps to run the family business, Big Little Sanitation. She has been a student of Karl’s for two years.

Ghislaine Bransby-Zachary comes from England and lives in Fairfield. She has a degree in Art History from the University of Sussex, England. Her artistic ability comes from both sides of her family. Her focus in creating art is on details, light, and color. Her website is www.gbzstudio.com.
