Greenwich High athletes continue state tournament run

A handful of Greenwich High School fall athletic teams will be in action the next several days and will compete in the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference tournaments.

After it’s 3-0 victory over Conard High School, the Greenwich High field hockey team will hit the road and battle top-seeded Darien High School in the quarterfinals of the class L tournament. Game time is slated for 2. These two teams met up earlier in the season, with the Blue Wave coming away with the 4-0 victory.

Those same two schools will see each other tomorrow at 5 in the Darien High School gymnasium, as the Greenwich High girls volleyball team will compete in the CIAC class LL quarterfinals and play top-seeded Darien. Two game ago, the Blue Wave came away with the 3-1 victory over the Cardinals in the FCIAC semifinals.

The Greenwich girls soccer team advanced to the second round with a commanding 4-0 victory over Simsbury High School Friday. Today at 5, the Lady Cards will travel to Newtown and battle No. 6 seeded Newtown High School.

The GHS boys soccer team will be in action tomorrow as well, when they travel up to Woodbridge and battle No. 2 seeded Amity High Regional High School at 2 p.m.

The Greenwich High girls swimming and diving team will hit the Wesleyan University pool Wednesday night when they participate in the CIAC class LL championship meet. The event gets underway at 7.
