Retired Men’s Association of Greenwich hosts Themis Klarides

Retired Men’s Association of Greenwich, Inc. (RMA) will conduct a meeting featuring State Representative Themis Klarides (R-114) on Wednesday, Jan. 20, at 10:40 a.m., at First Presbyterian Church, Lafayette Place, Greenwich.

State Rep. Themis Klarides (R-114) will discuss “Connecticut’s Business Climate: Challenges and Solutions.” One of Connecticut’s two highest-ranking elected Republicans will discuss why her party thinks that the status quo in Hartford is not the right path forward. Although Republicans have been shut out of budget negotiations in the Legislature, Minority Leader Klarides has found a way to publicize such Republican issues as fiscal responsibility and to offer common-sense, practical solutions to the state’s many problems including a $3 billion deficit over the next two years.

Klarides is currently serving in her ninth term from the 114th House District representing Woodbridge, Derby, and Orange. She currently lives in Derby.

Following the 2014 elections in which she received 66% of the vote, her House Republican colleagues unanimously elected her as the first female Republican leader. She leads the largest House Republican caucus in 20 years.

Themis graduated from Trinity College (B.A.) and Quinnipiac School of Law (J.D.). She observed and then worked part-time with her family running its supermarket in Orange. Working at her family’s supermarket she gained appreciation for the challenges that small businesses face today.

RMA meetings are free and open to the public, both men and women; no reservations are required. Please plan to arrive around 10:40AM for our social break (coffee and cake), followed by our speaker at 11:00M. Meetings are held at the First Presbyterian Church in Greenwich, with parking on-street or at public lot two houses north of the church on Lafayette Place.
