Movin’ on up at Greenwich Hospital

Greenwich Hospital recently announced three promotions that became effective Oct. 1.

Brian Doran became executive vice president and chief operating officer. He previously held the position of senior vice president for medical services and chief medical officer and succeeds Quinton Friesen, who retired on Sept. 30.

Dr. Doran, who resides in Danbury, joined the hospital in 2000 after completing his internship and residency in the Emergency Medicine Program at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He served as chief resident during his final year. Dr. Doran was in full-time clinical practice in the Department of Emergency Medicine until 2007 when he became director of the department. In 2009, he was promoted to chief medical officer.

Spike Lipschutz became vice president for medical services/chief medical officer and will retain his prior duties as chief quality officer. In that position he provides leadership in the development and measurement of the hospital’s approach to clinical quality, performance improvement and patient safety.

Dr. Lipschutz, a Greenwich resident, received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania and later completed his internal medicine internship and residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to coming to the hospital in 2007, he served as senior vice president of medical affairs at South Shore Hospital in Massachusetts.

Marc Kosak, a Trumbull resident, assumed an expanded role as vice president of administration. His new responsibilities include oversight of security, spiritual care, lab/pathology, diagnostic imaging, and physical medicine & rehabilitation in addition to cardiology, pulmonary & wound care, environmental and food services, integrative medicine and the diabetes and weight loss center.

Mr. Kosak began his career at the Hospital in 2004 as administrative director of physical medicine and was promoted to his most recent position in 2008. Previously, he worked at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital in White Plains. Mr. Kosak earned his bachelor’s degree in physical therapy at Daemen College and an MBA from the University of Phoenix.
