Metro-North offers extra service for New Year’s Eve/Day holiday

For New Year’s Eve, Thursday, Dec. 31, Metro-North will operate a modified weekday AM and PM Peak service, with an early afternoon getaway schedule.

• Train consolidations in the AM Peak, extra outbound service between noon and  4 p.m., and consolidated service during the PM Peak.

• Extra inbound late afternoon and early evening service

• “Overnight” New Year’s morning service

Drinking alcohol on Metro-North trains and at Metro-North stations is banned from noon New Year’s Eve until noon New Year’s Day.

On New Year’s Eve tickets will be collected prior to boarding trains at Grand Central; buy tickets in advance.

On New Year’s Day, Friday, Jan. 1, Metro-North will operate hourly service, with two additional mid-day trains to New Haven to accommodate higher demand between noon and 2 p.m.
