Veterans Day event to honor soldiers

The Greenwich American Legion Post 29 will hold its annual Veterans Day Event on Sunday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. sharp in front of the War Memorial on Greenwich Avenue at the Post Office.

The purpose of the event is to honor the brave men and women who have defended freedom and the American way of life by serving in the Untied States military and all those currently serving around the world. As has been the tradition, it is marked on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month.

The event is open to the public and it is especially recommended that school-aged children attend.

As he has done for the last two decades, Marine veteran Christopher Hughes will serve as event organizer and Master of Ceremonies.

This year’s focus will be on the 30th anniversary of the Vietnam Memorial as well as the Veterans who have served in the Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
