The Other Side by Paul Larson

Paul Larson has degrees in Fine Art and Education from Marietta College. From 1975 until 1985, he worked as an artist, designer, and project director for the design firm L. E. Carpenter & Company in Milford, CT. In 1986, he began a very successful career in Greenwich real estate sales and new home construction. In 2009, he returned with renewed passion to his work as a serious painter.

A current member of the Greenwich Art Society, the Loft Artist’s Association in Stamford, and Art/Place Gallery in Fairfield, he has participated in over 50 exhibitions during the past several years. His paintings in oil, pastel, and acrylic have been recognized with many awards, and his artwork has been acquired by numerous collectors both in the U.S. and abroad.

Larson says, “Working in whatever medium that suits the purpose, my cubist influenced compositions are based upon the use of multifaceted geometric forms, the illusion of overlapping and intersecting planes, improbable perspectives, and subtle transitions of tonal passages that invariably tease the eye. My hope is that the viewers of my work may find something familiar to their world as well; perhaps providing an insight, evoking a memory long forgotten, or eliciting an emotion somehow familiar, and perhaps long unfelt.”

The paintings in this show represent a new direction in Larson’s work, and symbolize the path we each walk in life. The artist states “From birth to death we each travel a constantly changing world, headed toward a largely uncertain future. These powerful figurative paintings depict beginnings, endings, and the movement of the spirit in between.”
