JFS presents: Partnering with Your Parents through the Aging Process

Jewish Family Services of Greenwich announces Partnering with Your Parents through the Aging Process, a free panel discussion for the Greenwich community, on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 7 p.m., at the JFS offices, 1 Holly Hill Lane, Greenwich.

David Slepian, Board President, CT Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys; Roni Lang, LCSW, Greenwich Hospital Center for Healthy Aging; and Richard Norman, Financial Representative, The Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company, will discuss things you need to know to protect your parents legally, emotionally, and financially as they age.

“If you have, or are, an aging parent, this seminar will help you prepare for the latter part of life. Being prepared is essential for peace of mind,” says Elyse Brown, program director of Supermarketing for Seniors, and the panel facilitator. “You will walk away with information and resources to empower you throughout the process.”

Among the topics covered will be how to determine when someone needs help; opening a dialogue about caregiving issues; when to intervene; the range of services available; what happens when siblings disagree; and crisis management. Legal and financial topics include, advance directives; estate planning for asset protection; Federal law and Medicaid; finding the correct long term care solution; vetting services and providers to find the right fit; and finding resources for-out-of-state legal assistance.

This event is free and open to the public. For more information or to register call Elyse Brown at 203-622-1881 or email[email protected].
